Ser - is used to describe physical and personality traits.

SER

yo soy = I am

tu eres = you are

el es = he/it is

ella es - she/ it is

nosotros somos = we are

vosotros sois = y'all are

ellos son = they are (Masculine)

ellas son = they are (Feminine)

The corresponding adjectives have gender specific ending

+o = masculine

+a = feminine

+os = masculine plural

+as = feminine plural

(if the plural adjective doesn't not end in "o" or "a",  then "es"- is added. = azules, amigables)
